Rethinking Meat: Innovation, Climate, and the Future of Food
Join us for an engaging afternoon exploring the future of food with leaders at the forefront of alternative protein innovation.
Join us for an engaging afternoon exploring the future of food with leaders at the forefront of alternative protein innovation.
Hosted in collaboration with the Good Food Institute, this event brings together Bruce Friedrich, co-founder of the Good Food Institute and author of Meat, alongside pioneering Canadian startups shaping the next generation of sustainable food systems.
We’ll begin with informal networking, followed by a featured talk from Bruce Friedrich, who will introduce the key ideas from his book Meat. Drawing on decades of work in food system transformation, Bruce will share why alternative proteins are emerging as one of the most powerful solutions to some of today’s biggest global challenges from climate change and biodiversity loss to food security, public health, and the future of agriculture.
As highlighted in Meat, we are only beginning to scratch the surface of what alternative proteins can achieve. With the potential to produce food using a fraction of the land, water, and environmental impact of conventional meat, these innovations could help feed a growing population while supporting planetary recovery and more resilient food systems.
The conversation will continue with a panel discussion featuring:
- Jennifer Côté, Co-founder & CEO, Opalia
- Bruce Friedrich, Co-founder, Good Food Institute
Together, they will discuss how startups and ecosystem builders are advancing this transition from scientific breakthroughs to commercialization, and from local innovation to global impact.
Whether you’re an entrepreneur, researcher, investor, policymaker, or simply curious about the future of food, this event offers a unique opportunity to connect, learn, and engage with a fast-evolving field that could fundamentally reshape our food system.
